I like authors like C.D. Payne, David Sedaris, and Chuck Palanhiuk. I can't stand romances and things like the Devil Wears Prada. I'm a fan of Stephen King, but he's starting to get old. Any suggestions for a good book?

If you like Sedaris, you may like Bill Bryson. I think he is a former NYT book reviewer. He's got quite a few books out that mix travel with history and humor. Not too long ago I read "In a Sunburned Country" and about broke a rib laughing. He's a riot. You can also type the name of some titles that you like into Amazon and it will list what other books people bought that are along the same line. Have fun!

Try Stephen King's favorite author - Shirley Jackson

My favorite two books of hers:

#1 The Haunting of Hill House (NO, it's not the same as the movie "House on Haunted Hill")

#2 We Have Always Lived in the Castle

Might also try Ray Bradbury's "Something Wicked This Way Comes"

If you prefer something newer, try "Phantoms" by Dean Koontz

If you're looking for more funny fiction, I really like Christopher Buckley (Thank You for Smoking, No Way to Treat a First Lady) and Christopher Moore (Lamb, Fluke, The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove).
