It was a spending extravaganza! Money and the economy was really good at this time. I was 18 in 1981. Rent was $350 then for a two bedroom in New Jersey and jobs were plentiful. The top song for the early eighties was Blinded me with science by Thomas Dolby. Minimum wage then was $2.90 an hour. But in all fairness the minimum wage equated the cost of living. But people spent money more freely than they do now so I think things are getting ready to shift for the bad at this state of the economy. The minimum wage is way lower than what someone can afford to live at. When things get like this its bound to start some problems but back in the eighties things were going very well for the economy then.

I'm still living in the 80's!!! lol Seriously... it was big hair on men and women. Purple eye shadow with too much blush and lipstick. Leg warmers for a while. The music was great!!! They were big hair bands and most of them wore make-up. I still love the music!!! Pretty much there were a lot of drugs and alcohol around if you were into that scene. Even though it sounds a little crazy, which I guess it was, it was a pretty cool time to live in.
