I am trying to get a freelance job and after emailing the guy the particulars, he said the above. I am wondering if that means Nahh, you are too expensive.

No interview or conversation, you sent an email, he replied, "Thanks, I'll be in touch."? If this is the case, I'd thank him for considering your qualifications and ask if you can schedule a meeting - if it's a contract job I don't think you can treat it like a regular interview situation.

Who knows? Job interviews are such a puzzle... Sometimes you feel you got it, and deception, not a call back in days, or months. Other times you think you're screwed, and next day the guy calls, unexpectedly! So, who knows? Don't take it so personal, if you don't get the call you expected, send another resume, contact some other company. Eventually you'll reach your goal. Persist..

It is only 25% chance that he will call you back later after ascertaining other applicants for the position. It does mean that your qualifications / experiences donot meet 100% of his requirements. If it does, he would say something else or fix the time for interview to hold on to you.

He may be reviewing other potential candidates for the job. Or perhaps he won't be able to review your info in depth until later. Or it could be the big brush-off.

I'd wait a few days - since 'be in touch' is totally vague - you could email him again and simply say "Hi Mr. XXXX, I just wanted to check in with you - please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and I'll be happy to address them". That's a good entre to refresh the issue with him, without seeming demanding.

You may or may not have a job. He may have more applicants to interview.

Think positive. Smile and thank him for his time.
He probably will call you in a day or two.

It means "Thanks Suzy, I will be in touch."

Don't over analyze. ;)

And, if you think you're too expensive.. re-evaluate your prices. You could be.

it means "dont call me, i'll call you" but he might actually call, so dont rule it out completely.
