I think they can if Brad Johnson stays healthy. They play a weak schedule and they're probably not as good as any team in the NFC East, but those teams will beat up on each other while the Vikings are cleaning up on the Lions and Packers.

They seem to be having a "turn-around" season this year after last year. But honestly, taking out Chicago for first place, while not actually impossible, is looking each week, like as close to it as you can get!

And those two wild card spots, well there are going to be some VERY good teams playing for them.

My guess would be, "not this year!"

(And YES I DO remember Bud Grant - came down to Minnesota from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL, he and Marv Levy must share the record - 4 trips to the SB, 4 loses (oops, almost forgot about Dan Reeves)

I've always liked the Vikings although I"m not a fan, they always find a way to blow all their chances. Remember when Bud Grant was the coach and they kept losing in their championship games?(probably not).

Their only shot seems through the wild card spot, because I don't think they'll be beating out Chicago. And even the wild card seems out of reach. But there's still plenty of games to go, so it's possible.

No I dont think so.. They need Ryan Leaf as a QB and Rashaan Salaam as their starting QB.. Once they do that, they will be Super Bowl contenders
