To let us know what they have been up to lately in their lives. To show us that there lives aren't the same in the past as they are now. So people would talking about them and the way they would use to be.
ps- if the ones that were on tv needed the money then Screech from Saved by the bell would have had his own tv reality show on by now.

Because they get married, they get divorced and get all their money taken away... then they try to hide it with a T.V. show that isnt that interesting. i mean... nobody really buys ozzy osbourne cds anymore... and he put up his 4 wheeler accident on tv...
