I have been married for 10 years. Wife is in San Francisco. The last contact was on February 2006. We have been separeted since September 2004. I want to divorce. I am in Canada now. How can this be done?

We have been separated since September 2004. Last contact with her was on February 2006. She is Spanish and I am Turkish. She lives in San Francisco. I lost the contact with her. I live in Canada now. How can I divorce?

You pose a rather serious but interesting question...My advice to you would be to contact a lawyer for proper advice. I don't know if the laws are the same as in the USA, but here, if you have had no contact with your spouse for a certain amount of time, then that is considered abandonment, and all you have to do is run an ad in the newspaper, and if there is no response, then a judge will grant you a divorce.....I am sure that there are some added details that I don't know about.....but, it is possible to get a divorce.

Abandonment....all you need is a year. So just don't mention the last time you contacted her was in 2006. You haven't seen or spoken to her since you seperated in 2004.

You get a divorce lawyer and tell him your story and he'll advise you on what can be done.
