Montoya has excelled in all motor sports he raced in there is no reason to believe he wont do well in NASCAR. The biggest problem may be getting NASCARs Bubba fans to cheer him on since he is not from the US. If he does have success look for more foreign born drivers to enter the field.

I don't take his 3rd place finish in an ARCA race at the newly paved Talladega track that much to heart. Especially considering he most likely had superior equipment compared to the rest of the field.

I think he will eventually do well, but he will struggle at first. A Cup car is so much different from an open wheel car, and driving on ovals is different as well. Also, Ganassi doesn't have the best equipment in the Cup garage. Add to that the 36 week schedule and he will have a hard time adjusting. I predict he will finish between 15th and 20th in the points next year.

It will probably be hard at first because he will have to get used to that kind of car. He seems like a great driver though looking at the fact that he has won a number of F1 races and the Indy 500 way back when sometim. I think maybe the 1st half of the year he will just be getting used to the car but he will probably start getting really good by the 2nd half. As long as he has a competitive team and good equipment I see him doing well!

Yes he will be awesome! He ran well in the ARCA race last Friday and seems to be a classy guy, I kinda thought he would be an aragant guy coming from F1 and all but all the interviews I've seen of him show him as a pretty decent dude.......Now if he comes into NASCAR and runs JR into the wall at Daytona I might just make him my favorite driver.

he ran really good against a bunch of 21 year old rookies and a buch of 55 year old veterans in the arca race at talladega.finished 3rd there.
i think that when he gets to the cup series he will have a few more hurdels to cross.the competition there is so strong.give him a year or 2,he will do ok.
i think he kinda stepped out of his field of expertise when he quit formula 1 to take over a stock car.they are so different.

I loved him in F1...It seems odd that he's going into NASCAR, but I do think that he'll be pretty good. It might take him a while to get used to it though. How hard can it be to travel around in an oval for 3 hours?

It's believed Chip Ganassi has a `No Tennis' clause in his contract. :-)
If you've followed his aborted Formula One career, you'll know what I'm talking about, but I have a feeling it will go over the heads of many of the people who answer your question.

I thought he was in the F1 racing. No, he wont be successful in NASCAR. F1 suits him better. Anyway Alonso has been dominating lately...

Fastest hands.

On. The. Planet.

Unfortunately, that won't matter in NAPCAR. He'll be fine, but it's going to take him a while to adjust to driving those pigs they call racing cars.
