If you are are the doer,then you are "DOING" KARMA. if you are doing what is before you to do,dedicating all (even breathing) to the service of GOD and fully understand that GOD is the doer,then you are performing your dharma. The very first stanza of Gita says... Dharma kshetre kurukshetre. Dharma is the rule governing one's desires and money. These both are dependent on each other. Whether righteous or not is the domain of dharma.

First you have to see in what stage of life you are in, The Dharma for different stages of life is different. For unmarried men it is of one kind. For married men with children it is another. a person who has completed his duty to his family it is another. For a person who has taken priesthood it is different. for a soldier, for a businessman for a doctor etc it is different. So you will have to see in what line you are and follow the codes prescribed for it by the society and that will be your Dharma.

Read Bhagvad Geeta.

Especially pick up a copy whith least tainted tranlations and interpretations.
Direct translations (without elaborate interpretations) are the best.

Specifically understand the direct translations of each verse.
