We bought a viaticle some years back. When the person dies we are supposed to get some money (a viaticle is an investment wher you buy out a person's life insuance policy before they die so that they can get some of their life insurance money while they are still alive. The person who buys this gets a decent percentage return on the original investment.)
I have tried to look up the person's ssi but am only directed to sites pertaining to geneology. These are rip-off sites. Pay and pay again for information that never quite comes through.
We have the person's name and SSI. Where can we find out if the person is living or dead?

The SSDI so far in searches has only directed me to Geneology sites - which are rip-offs that want me to pay money to find more sites to pay more money. Is there a legitimate SSDI site that states the facts - and only the facts?

I went to this site, clicked on search at rootsWeb, and entered info for two of my grandparents and got both of them up. I clicked on "submit", not on advanced. No payment was requested or given.
