Realize that the surprise is always going to come when the music stops playing and the camera is focused on an area for more then six seconds. It's a pattern in all scary movies. Also, what works for me is reminding myself that each shot of that movie took about half an hour to set up, the actors are complaining about their make up running, some idiot camera guy slipping on the fake blood and everyone on the set laughing at him, or all the funny bloopers they must have gotten from this whole movie. I mean, really? Could you really keep a straight for some of the movie scenes out there?

The omen was not scary. It was stupid. But watch it over and over again and then in midnight open the window of you bathroom, close the door, turn off the light and scream " come get me omen". Then you wont be afraid of scary movies anymore. Im serious try it.

Why would you want to be less afraid of horror movies? The whole point of them is that they are scary. That makes them exciting and fun. If you want to be less afraid of them just keep watching them. Sooner or later you will become too jaded and they lose there effect. I am always looking for the next movie that can scare me because I have watched lots of horror movies.

Look at them in an artistic light. I love watching them to see the special effects. food coloring and corn starch for blood in the early days to computor stuff. Some movies just look awful so its not hard to be amused. Like when we all waited to see Jason's face from the friday the 13th series and it was so cheesy. The scariest movies don't have any effects. Look at Rosemary's baby. That scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. So I watch those really scary ones during the day.

It's really hard to say when a person become "less afraid" -- really you have to dominate your feelings and your emotions when it comes to what you watch.
I'm also a scaredy cat when it come to horror flicks. I really don't like them; but I will make some exceptions if they are NOT about the supernatural.
I won't watch The Exorcist or anything of that sort; but I can watch a classic film like Halloween or Carrie with no problem. I guess 'cuz they are fiction and the Exorcism isn't...

watch it w/ someone u can trust an w/ someone who has possibly seen it before. that way they can warn u when a scary part is coming and u can decide if u want to watch or not. just remember that even if u watch a movie that is based on a true story, the movie itself is fake. its just hollywood interpretation. once you learn this u can almost control j=how much fear u wanna feel. i know that sounds weird but hey it works for me. good luck and have fun.

Just watch the credits and think about how many people took to make the movie.
