When my husband and I were ttc, I had (my doctor at the time) tell me if I would just lose some weight, I would get pregnant, and on and on. I kept telling her its not my weight, I was overweight, but not morbidly so; I seen bigger women than me in the waiting room pregnant. Anyway, I found another doctor and she told me that I had POCS (polysistic ovary syndrome). What I am trying to say is, being overweight might cause you to have to wait longer but so can being too skinny. I don't think anyone has control over when a woman gets pregnant but God. Our doctor had us try a year on our own after that didn't work, we started going through the phases of ttc and then after a year of her methods (metformin, clomid) we went to a fertility center. You can get pregnant no matter what you weigh; however, you could have another problem keeping you from getting pregnant that is not related to your weight, so I would discuss it with my doctor. Good Luck to you!

I am overweight and have two children, I have been pregnant a total of 3 times. The first time took 7 months, the second took 2 months, and this last time took 1 month. I don't think weight has much bearing on TTC.
Do you know your cycles, do you chart, do you have signs that you are ovulating every month? Knowing your body and cycles are the two most important things when you are TTC. Even if you go see your Dr. they are going to want to know that info. I got pregnant the first time after I had learned more about my cycles so that in the back of my head I knew when I was about to ovulate, and then just had fun with my hubby from there.

Hello,
I am currently pregnant. I too am overweight and had a hard time getting pregnant. My sister, who is also overweight, had no trouble in the least. I have PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrom) and had to have fertility treatment. You can go see you GP and ask them for a referral to a fertility specialist, but they wont see you unless you are unable to get pregnant for a year or more. Statistically, it takes normal couples about 8 months to a year to get pregnant. Some lucky ones just have to look at each other and they are pregnant, others need to do a little practice.

I am overweight (significantly I might add!) and I had no problem getting pregnant. A friend of mine who is significantly overweight as well got pregnant pretty quickly too, like about 3 months or so. My ob told me it could take a while to concieve (not because of weight, just because that's what happens to a lot). Just keep trying and it will happen. Have you got a fertility monitor? I've heard good things about them.
Good luck!

I'm over weight and i have never had a problem conceiving, i have four kids i just had my fourth one on august 23. my great aunt tried to get pregnant for like a year and my mom told her to relax and take a cruse or something because she was trying to hard she was getting stressed out she took that cruse and came back pregnant. so the more you stress over it the harder its going to be to get pregnant. so just enjoy the sex with your husband and don't make it a chore. and best of luck
