I think Racism is caused by people that want to feel superior to others so they try to make fun of other people. Also some racist people can't think of anything to insult about a person so they make fun of there race instead. I beleive that racism causes people to feel unwelcome with some people of other races and it causes lots of fights.
What is your opinion of racism? Please include detail. This is for a society survey that I am completing. THANKS!!!

As far as Im concerned Racisim should not even be heard of anymore, this is the year 2006, you know? It is the government and society that keeps up the race card. If people would wake up and quit listening to what others say and think with their hearts, they would see that color of skin is nothing. We all bleed alike, we are all made alike and no race is better than another. If more people would think like that instead of using race as an issue, than we would be a much happier world. By the time I was in Jr. High black and whites for the majority of the time got along, now seeing my son go to High School and seeing what I see and hear what I hear it makes me totally sick. What is wrong with people, our kids should be so anti racist but its not the case. I hear kids running and walking down the street without hearing such hate from the children of the worlds mouthes. It is quite sickening, in my opinion!

You are correct. People fear or are undecided in others that appear different from them in appearance. Some hate other races because of their past experiences with them and would generalize. Black is looked at as evil, and white is good and that is thought how that began. Some are raised in racist families and if grandad says they are bad, then they are bad, the same way it's hard to get someone to not be a Catholic cause all the family is for example, it's in the raising, the geography and history and nothing you can say, or do will change that entirely. I do not have that problem but if I am having a bad day especially like when driving and a black person is beside me with that stereo shaking my glass, I will think and say that word. To me it's not the color, it's the way others represent their race. There is good and bad in all the world, but when we get hurt or belittled by a particular race then we naturally recall that and if pushed act accordingly. Is that long enough? I am white and my fiance is a Morena (dark) Filipino. America is a melting pot of all races and it as well is producing offspring unlike any other nation. It is amazing we get along as well as we do. Of all races the Spanish conquered so many countries and mixed with so many in the world, I would say the Spanish are the dominant race world wide.

I think that another factor contributing to racism is how people bring it up all the time. For example, one day in class, a black student showed up late. This student has had a pattern of being late in the past and he was told that the next time he was late, he'd be assigned a detention. He responded by saying "Its because I'm black" and he started an argument over it. Frankly, I think thats bullshit. It had nothing to do with his race. It was immature and irresponsible. Many people keep racism alive by blaming their mistakes on it.

There are many forms of racism, but in my opinion, to break it down, racism is negatively classify a whole group of people based solely on the color of their skin. All black people speak bad English. All Asians have squinty eyes. (in case you didn't know not all of them do) White people......I can't think of a negative stereotype except they can't dance. Even positive classifications can be racist, but people forgive the positive stereotypes because they are positive. All people of one race do not act the same. Maybe people of the same culture act the same, but not race. People may think that a whole race acts the same because sometimes, people of the same race share the same culture. I think people need to over look color and focus on the person. Just my opinion. Doesn't mean it will happen.

Everyone has their own point of view on this subject. This one is mine and I am only speaking of the people that I met, seen, encountered...whatever, I am not speaking of the whole entire race...that would be impossible.
Most black guys that come into my store stare at my butt and say "...damn!" or they call me "baby". I am not your damn baby, dumb idiot. No white or Asian guy has said things like that to me and if they have, i would be just as angry and NOT flattered. Do they think that that is flattering?
My boyfriend got in several fights because he happens to have no hair, so automatically, he MUST be a skinhead. That is just as ignorant. We all get judged, that is not a race thing, it`s a HUMAN thing.

racism is caused by ignorance. we always fear and/or hate what we don't understand.
people are racists because they are raised that way and or conditioned to think that way.
racism hold society back and prevents social evolution, in my opinion, that is a horrendous crime against humanity
