I have an oscar & from a couple of days it is affected some white spots and they seem to be increasing timely, they are present only on its pectoral fins. The fish is very active, the diet is intact, though it does not have any ill effect on fish but it bothers me a lot. I've tried some medication for fungal white spots & also have increased the temperature of the water since 23 hours, but it still does not cure my fish instead the infection is increased a bit.In need of a detailed cause, cure and further prevention for that. Please guide me with some authentic sources.

If it looks like the fish has salt sprinkles, then it's ich/ick. If it looks cottony, then it's a fungus. Need to slowly increase the temp to at least 82 degrees. Takes awhile to go away, isn't instant. I prefer the heat and/or salt method to meds, just because I have a lot of fish that are sensitive to the meds. Here's a good link, has info on what ich is and the different treatments for it. If it's a fungus, you can do the same heat and salt. Be sure to do weekly water changes, especially with an oscar. Not sure on your tank size, but oscars should be in a minimum 55 gallon due to their potential size and messiness. And, be sure to have excellent filtration. I ran the large Penguin (forget the model) and a cannister filter.

Your oscar has ick; which is protozoan parasite. You need to get a malachite green treatment such as Ick Away or Rid Ick (make sure to do about a 50% water change between treatments). You will have to discontinue carbon filtration during treatment; put a filter cartrage with carbon removed into filter. Raising the temperature was good if you have the medication as it decreases the time spent in the parasites larval stage (the white spots on your oscar). Make sure to continue treatment of your tank for at least 3-4 days after the last white spot disappears. You might also want to put a bubble bar in your tank during treatment as nitrate levels increase with higher temperatures.

It sounds like Ick, sometimes it happens because of a quick change in temp in the tank. They sell a whole lot of different kind of Ick medicine but if you can find it try Ick Cure its a blue package i have used that in the past it seems to work well just follow the directions. Good luck (I have an Oscar also, love him to death)

Gonna desire a much bigger tank (a minimum of a seventy 5 gal) in case you are able to swing it and extra filtration(upload a canister on there besides). Or eliminate the JD or the Oscar. they are battling because of the fact they are isn't sufficient room for them. the two are territorial and each desires their very own area. interior the advise time, attempt including some rocks/caves and flora even nonetheless they'll maximum in all probability be uprooted. Use some MelaFix for the torn fins and scratches.

you say water changes often, how often!? How big is your tank? you say a good diet , what ido the diet persist of!? how many other fish are in the tank I would get a different medication and increase the temp to 82 degrees and do frequent small water changes should do the trick.
