Is adding crushed egg shell (ca carbonate) benificial for plants?

Calcium is a trace element for plants so they need very small amounts. The amounts they need are probably in the soil but if not a better source for calcium if gypsum or limestone.

I doubt. CaCO3 has very little solubility in water, and is not likely to be taken up by the plant.
