when in human history has killing off all of the enemy ever worked?
It makes no sense.
We will never kill every terrorist. For every terrorist we kill, more will be training , to avenge for the deaths of the previous terrorists. Its a never ending.

Also, the best way to deal with terrorists is to pour financial aid into the middle east. Make an effort to really improve the living situation over there. Create a positive middle east image of the US.

Do you want us to stop trying and just sit here and wait for them to come to us? The best thing about it is for every terrorist killed the threat goes down.

Do you really think the Middle East needs OUR money to provide them with a "better way of life"? And don't you understand that they loathe America and the freedom we represent? Us trying to "improve" the Middle East would be the same as a ground assault in the eyes of the terrorists. Killing off the enemy actually works from time to time. Remember Hiroshima?

The ‘war on terror’ is either a really stupid idea or a carefully planned strategy to feed the military industrial complex by keeping a constant low-level war going.
Terrorism can only successfully be fought with police tactics and methods. That is why no one hears about the Red Brigade or IRA anymore. It was police methods that allowed the British to stop the recent airline/bomb attacks.
‘Terror’ is a tactic not a thing, and you cannot fight a specific tactic with warfare. That is like fighting a war against tank attacks. Yeah, tank attacks can be part of a war, but you cannot put all your resources into that one thing without losing. We can bankrupt out country chasing terrorist the same way the former Soviet Union did trying to keep pace with us, or we can deal with it the way Israel and England have.
The key element is good and reliable intelligence. That is why we need to reestablish our standing in the world to the same level of respect and admiration we enjoyed when Bush took office, and especially after 9/11. At that time, countries like Syria and Iran provided invaluable intelligence information that helped us pin 9/11 on Bin-Laden and track him to Afghanistan.
If we have no friends, and worse, if most of the world hates us, we will lose to the terrorists because no one will care to help us. Either way we deal with terrorists we need information and right now we are doing nothing to help ourselves.

So what is the alternative. It isn’t simply that these barbarians are terrorists, rather, they have sworn to kill those who are not of their beliefs. You can’t negotiate with them because they will say they agree with you and then stab you in the back and justify it as being part of their belief system.
If they are left alone they will continue to use propaganda to teach the young lies about the rest of the world and their role in it and minorities (such as women) will continue to be subjugated. They are destroyers and takers.
This is a clash of cultures with the only result to win or lose. We are clashing with a culture that will kill and torture their own people. They target by intent innocent civilians of men, women, and children.

I will put it to you this way . For Evil to triumph ,good men sit back and do nothing ,do you understand this quote? Let me explain it. If we do not try to defend our country then we are allowing every other country in the world to see us as weak and makes us a target. Any thoughts from you?

You have to try to slow the tide somewhere. Teerorism was slowly increasing and we are trying to knock off the big guys at the top first to prevent this.
