i thought homeland security was supposed to be made aware of any planes reaching a low altitude so that jets could be scrambled to help down or shoot down, the plane is low, hits the building, and then the jets are scrambled and flying around? guess we are still not safe. what if it would have been another attack? we are not safe, and I don't beleive the hype from the puppet master (bush) that we are.

i know it was an accident, but the point still remains that homeland security was not there. had it have been another attack they would have been unprepared.

Now you are beginning to see the picture more clearly. It is seriously flawed. We spend billions on the belief that homeland security is keeping us safe from danger. Further proof that we should not be trading our freedom for a false sense of security. It was easy on 9/11 it was just as easy yesterday, and it will remain easy if anyone decided to launch an attack again. We are just as vulnerable today as we were then. Very scary thought.
We have been fed lies all along. I quit believing anything Bush said since he took office in 2001.

Small aircraft such as the Cirrus SR-20 can only do relatively little damage even when loaded with fuel as seen in this accident. We live in a free nation and anybody can take up an airplane just like anybody can drive a car on the road. There are certain rules and regulations on where you can go based on airspace. Some airspace is restricted such as that around George Bush's living areas. Most flying, however, is uncontrolled and unmonitored by any controlling agency under a law called Visual Flight Rules.

Just as nobody tells you how or where to drive your car, a pilot can pretty much fly how or where he wishes.

Hang in there, you're as safe as ever. (Besides, those TSA agents in the airport know less about aircraft than my 4 year old.)

Have you ever heard of an ACCIDENT ??

The pilot was flying HIS plane, there had been no theft or hijacking... He was flying in an area that is still open to VFR flight.
He had done NOTHING that would have alerted Homeland Security...

Would you rather that we restrict further our liberties ? No flying within 30 miles of any major city ? No trucks within 10 miles of New York, Washington ? Barrage balloons surrounding all US Cities ?? Perhaps we can put Anti-Aircraft Artierlly in Battery Park and on the towers of the Brooklyn Bridge ??

Two dead... less that the average van-load of illegal immigrants.
