It all depends on what's causing your migraines. Because there are different causes, there are different "fixes". Some people respond to herbal therapy, some to acupuncture, some to aromatherapy, some to Reiki, etc. I feel your best bet is to consult a naturopath to help you determine the cause of the imbalance and to suggest corrective therapies. I'm sorry, but I never had any luck with feverfew or butterbur or other herbals myself. I am a 10 year sufferer with constant migraines, about 40 years total sporadically. The severe ones started when I was perimenopausal and I was assured that they would get better when I was postmenopausal. Not so much!
What finally worked for me was two-fold. I was on a daily medication of 500 mg. depakote and 50 mg topamax. The doctor said this SHOULD NOT WORK -- cocktails like that don't usually for migraines. But the depakote alone was no longer working for me and I could not tolerate the topamax and it was not working.
Turns out that cocktail worked JUST FINE for me, for about 1 year. Then, we discovered (by pure accident!!) that many, if not most, of my migraines were no longer coming from my hormones, as they had been before. It seems I had developed a severe reaction to sulfites and phosphates that I'd never had before or even known about! The surprise was WHERE I was getting them from -- the salad bars at restaurants, salads at fast food places, chicken -- both fresh (check the labels to be sure!!) and from fast food places, fresh pork (again, check the labels), balsamic vinegar, most salad dressings, etc. etc.
Since we began scrupulously watching my diet, my migraines are down to about 1 every 6 weeks -- TOTALLY tolerable with Axert to knock it out!! One tablet does the job. It means a little extra work picking out food and watching what I eat when I go out, but it it SO worth it.
Anyway, maybe this information may be of some help to you. I know that being on pills a lot is a trouble -- it was for me. But I found my answer, it seems. Hopefully, you will be able to find yours. Good luck!

Caffeine helps some people; you might try the Excedrin Migraine formula, which has caffeine in it. If you are able to safely take Sudafed (i.e., no high blood pressure), taking 60 mg along with a dose of Tylenol/acetominophen helps many people. Staying in a cool, dark room helps many migraine sufferers, as does sleep. If you have them frequently or severely, it's time to get to a doctor - there are some good prescription medications available.

you have to be careful taking feverfew... you should only take it for about a month or 2 or it can be toxic to the liver.... you have to take a break from it for a while & then start it again.
there are other prescription migraine meds that are non narcotic that are both preventive (like topamax) and used for when you get the migraine- triptans like imitrex, relpax and zomig, they target the blood vessels & dont make you spacey or sleepy & work in about 30 minutes.
perhaps you need to talk to your doctor about the proper medications--- get to a neurologist, dont see your family doctor about migraines.

Feverfew works pretty good....alot of people says it works. Something else you might want to try to take on a daily basis is Calcium and Magnesium. Not in a combination, but separately. That works pretty good as well.
