To see what a communist country is truly like read the chapter on Cuba in P J O'Rourke's book Eat The Rich. Also observe North Korea which is one of the last bastions of 'communism'.
When all political opposition is forbidden by law and the state is lord over all other considerations and ruthlessly suppresses any dissent then you will have a communist state. Doesn't it sound like great fun? No wonder people are trying so hard to go there!

No, Canada is no more communist than the USA is. Our government has many problems that is true, but right now it is because we have a prime minister that thinks like Bush in too many ways...I am an American who moved to Canada 7 years ago. My wife and I travel back and forth between the two countries twice every year...we actually feel safer once we cross into Canada.

actually i remember there were scientist describing whatt would happen. They claim if Canada turns communist, China will move in on the territory to protect it and then Russia also might come in, but they think there is a chance that Russia will reseave a huge piece of land as a "peace present". It would really **** off most of Europe but mostly America.

Canada is more socialist than anything else-- big on government, small on business. Though, this system has worked out quite nicely for them. They have socialized medicine, and the government provides all sorts of services and benefits, especially for families. I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a time when this dragged the country down. I believe it was back in the late 80's to late 90's, ruled the majority of the time by the New Democratic Party. Their economy was suffering, the dollar was very weak, and they had instituted a goods and services tax of 7% on top of the already existing 8%. If they tried that here, Americans would tear down Congress.

I don't think Canada is communist it is socialistic though. Most of the world is democratic socialistic. America is really the only democratic capitalistic nation left and it is leaning communistic.
Communistic is usually socialistic but not always. As in the case of the new America that will debut later this decade.

Socialist I believe, maybe it would be nicer to be rich in America in some respects but I'd sure rather be poor and/or working class in Canada!
