It has been said that most black gay men are on the DOWN LOW more commonly than any other ethnicity or race. Is that because most black gay males are afraid to come out, viewed differently, ridiculed, or whatever? Or does it have more to do with the way black families view the ideal of being gay generally associated with being a sissy or fag or whatever term you use? Do you think it is different for black males to come out compared to other males of different racial backgrounds?

As sad as it is in today's society, I still think that black people have a harder time in life than say, an equally talented and well off white person. That being said, gay people also have a hard time in society because the gay community is very misunderstood by some people. Hence, to be black and gay is kind of a double wham. If you look at it like that. You could also see it as just another challenge to be that much better than the next person. Life isn't about who we have sex with, it's about how we love and treat our loved ones and our friends, and having a good time along the way!

Well for any race not just blacks I feel it is more of a pride issue most men feel less of a man if they are not attracted to women, or if they don't fit the norm. For black men i feel it is an insecurity issue hell even gay black men discriminate against each other. (ex. you can't be to girly, to fat, to skinny)

It's because it's another thing to be discriminated against besides being black in this world.

Really, from what I've seen the African American Community is much harder on their own people when it comes to acceptance of someone's sexuality.
