As a God-fearing judge, you hold ultimate power over the proceedings and the outcome depends upon your summing up of the evidence.
What is your verdict?

I respect your reply to this question.
I have asked it, merely to see what the general consensus is in regard to this trial.
I have a personal view, which has been represented by some of the answers given.
This will become clear in a day or two.
Again, many thanks.

No judge is god fearing, my naif dude. Hajim Saddam Hussain is a very trendy leader, something you british respect, do not give me that superior look, I can see it as well. That man has not commited any crime under the law of his country, a very cultured and rich country, popular too. They do accept many strange things as every other third world country, and that is not wrong, are you to allege that? how rude. He should be released because there is no judge over heaven or below that being born out of that beautiful country (Iraq) could actually achieve anything out of the nationals wishes, that of course is something I too see, and I can say for myself I am not very smart. Their former president is to be treated with respect and perhaps some fear, to be anxious to serve right and law to an extent at least. He should be released, for I too think this case has no foundings. You have a nice day, I can say for myself you live in a good country, yet some rights are to be found instead of being created for the sake of it. Bye now, I said enough.

well unfortunatly he cant be tried for many attrocities as the Americans supplied the bio/chem weapons that he used. This was decided before the trial by the Americans obviously. Compared to the 660,000 that have died since he was taken from power i guess he's clean as a sheet. Like Bush, jus doin his job eh?

I quit. Quite frankly, there's too many people out there who sympathise with him and I (or a member of my family or 5) would get shot/gruesomely tortured.
There's not enough money in the world to pay me to do that job.

I'd shoot him myself, and give a bust of the look on his face (when I pulled out my gun) to all the people his brutal regime touched... to include: The people related to the family he tortured and killed, kids first ( I won't tell you how), all the women his son's and soldiers raped on orders, the family of the maid he shot once at dinner because she dropped a plate and the many, many families of the people he killed and tortured just to make a point and make people afraid of him for unshakable power.

I don't know. I haven't heard the evidence yet. It would be quite presumptuous of me to condemn or acquit him without knowing all the facts.
