World war involves multiple nations

The cold war involved two nations - Canada and the UK etc were not all that involved - not a world war .

9/11 was One terror group attacking one nation Not a world war

7/7 Same story not a world war . If it counts then the IRA counts and so does the FLQ etc

I lived through a good portion of it - It was an obsesion of the US - thats all it was - The US could not allow comunisim to work so it sabotoged it at every turn -

It was a big big deal to you and you saw a commie under every bed and went off on witch hunts It wasn't a big deal to anyone else until Kennedy threatened to end civilisation - That caught a few peoples attention

Good to see you to .

I will leave the good bad nations alone for now.

But you are right we are all very much squarely in our respective camps.

"We" are the biggest - I am not sure if that will help though

"it should happen"?????

You do realise that ww 3 will likely end up with the **** roaches getting the earth right ? Them and the twinkies will likely be the only survivors of a nuclear exchange .

If when the terrorist get a dirty bomb or a nuclear bomb into the US you don't think the President of the day won't asign blame and nuke them right back? Even if it were to be a limited nuclear war this would change the earth forever and it is not likely that humans will be able to live here for very long afterwards?

It would almost be preferable to have an all out war - death would be quick as opposed to death over 6-18 months of poisoned water food and so forth killing us and deforming babies etc.

Choice 1 quick death - so quick you would't be aware it happened
Choice 2 You would be wishing for choice one and die a very slow painful death filled with wretching pain vomiting and so forth .
3)Now I would prefer to live into old age and kick kids off my lawn

well lets use the last 2 examples
both times the usa profited greatly from the sale of munitions, armoured vehicle, even horses, and small arms to BOTH sides, untill it seemed that it might be in their best interests join in and help. so i think that they will back down, let the rest of the world do the fighting, and other nations be destroyed, and build up their finical reserves then at the last minute come in with all guns blazing, clime to win the war and then gloat about it for 50 or 60 years until the rest of the world is to fuc8ing sick of them

Bull, Trout, the UK and Canada were hugely involved in the Cold War, they are an important part of why the West won. Nato, Seato, the west as a whole lined up in opposition to the Warsaw Pact and the USSR and Moscow realized that they had lost. Gorbachev tried to cut a deal, failed, and then folded his tent. The world stepped up, the world was safer.
Little did we know that the people we thought were our allies, the anti-Soviet forces in Afghanistan, were now thinking that they needed to kill us, to destroy our economy and to bury the shame of their own ineptitude by murdering our secretarial staff at Morgan Stanley. 9-11 isn't about 'one terror group attacking one nation', it is about a group of men deciding to kill thousands of innocent people because they know their civilization can only succeed by violence. 7/7 was about murderers finding useful idiots that were more open to hate than to the possibility of bettering themselves. Radical islam is an ugly travesty of a philosophy, one that is predicated upon hate and moral indignation.
The one thing to remember is that radical islam doesn't care if you are catholic or agnostic, they will either dominate your politics or die in the attempt. You might not want to fight, but they want to have Sharia law in Eurabia, and there is little that you politicians are willing to do to stop it. So if you like the idea of divorce, without the woman being killed, if you like the idea of a free society, without gays being beheaded, if you like the idea of dissent, without the dissenters being jailed, you might want to stand up for western values, before they become as dead as a dodo.

Need to brush up on your reading dude....the Cold War affected most of the world.

Again, do your homework. I agree with you that it was a foolish fear of communism that led us to it, but don't think for a moment that a proxy war affecting many nations was not fought. It was and a lot folks died in the process. Chile, El-Salvador, Nicaraugau, Angola, Afghanistan, Vietnam...etc, etc.

The Cold War is one of the predominant reasons that countries like Somalia and Iraq are so well armed with Soviet era equipment.

Enough said.

we are now in the wwiii. people just don't realize that as it is differ from the known past.
we have now war against terror organizations. not against countries. therfore - there is not a declaration of war!!!
but there is a war. against terror organization. we can't identify them easily. but peple are killed. houses are bombed. many restriction on life behaviour. etc.
if this is not a war - how you can define a war? it is differ from the past wars!!!.
