pass out-not usually
it's just a time in your life where you can't cope with your circumstances anymore
most people get over it with help from a doctor and go back to their normal way of life
or another way of saying it would be -EXTREME STRESS OVERLOAD

A mental breakdown can mean many things, but I guess it mostly applies to situations where people are so overwhelmed in their reaction to stressful situations that they lose their ability to function in their daily lives. They often recover with the right help. What you experiences was probably the same as many other students experience, and is quite normal. You could probably manage a little better with some basic relaxation techniques to help keep you focused during exams.

It is a complete break with reality, total inability to cope (with anything)
Pass out? Could happen but not usually.
Require hospitalization? Often but not always depending on the length and cause of the episode.

a mental breakdown can happen in a lot of ways. for another with to many kids not enough money a lousy relationship she might just quit getting out of bed. she might become obsessive or she might kill her children feeling she could not do them justice. an executive might pick up a gun and kill the boss or he might just go to work every day and accomplish nothing. everyone psych is different so a mental breakdown can have lots of faces

Anxiety atack would feel like a heart atack or similar, nervous breakdown, can cause emotional release and shaking.
Sounds like your concious mind took a break so it wouldn't overload on to much info at once.
My joke is my brian took a one second siesta.
It happens to everyone like when you try to remember a name it is there you can se it it is so familiar, but your brian doesn't seem to remember.
Later you remember .

It's when you can no longer take in information that you consider "a source of pressure." Instead, you can potentially react pessimistically to escape reality.
