I don't know their relationship to aristocrats. Haydn was Beethoven's teacher. Haydn wrote a 103 symphonies and only a few are remotely memorable. Haydn lived a lot longer than Mozart and was able to fit into the court and work with his benefactors in a very business like way.
Mozart was a rebel. He was a child prodigy starting at the age of three. He blew the doors off of Haydn. He wrote things that changed music forever. Mozart is the father of western music. Mozart recreated music and developed so many of the ideas we use today in pop music. He paid no attention to the King or anyone. He knew he was the best and thought anyone who did not know this was just a fool. He was wild in his lifestyle and caught Tuberculosis at an early age. He wound up dying of TB and was completely broke at his death. In fact Mozart was buried in potters field. They just dumped him in a group hole. No grave site and no head stone or casket. Check out the movie Amadeus. You will realize Mozart was a party animal. Haydn was a bore who came just before or relatively at the same time as Mozart. Haydn is to Mozart what a burger is to a steak. I could listen to Mozart all day. I could never hear Haydn again and I would never miss him at all.

Haydn was earlier than Mozart and is credited with developing the standard form ot the symphony. Mozart in general followed Haydn's forms, but sometimes deviated. Haydn worked for royalty and a lot of his music was composed for "background" purposes during court functions. Haydn and Mozart both are in the classical period where the standard forms were developed, but Mozart took his music to a higher level of complexity and innovation. Mozart never did get a court appointment, and was basically "free lance" working on commissions. See the sources for more data.

Haydn was arrogant and looked down on people to include one of his students: Beethoven.
Mozart didn't have to be... he WAS the best!
