I don't trust Microsoft. Remember a while back when they tricked people into downloading and installing the Windows Genuine Advantage? They told us it would make our computer experiences more rewarding when in fact, it monitored what we were doing, sending info back to Microsoft. The original WGA sent info to MS every time the computer was booted. Due to public outcry, they changed it to every two weeks. After more public outcry, they finally issued a KB article on how to remove the "spyware". You don't have to believe me..... do your own internet searches for "WGA spyware" and see what you get. This is a brief excerpt from the Wikipedia reference to Windows Genuine Advantage:

"Spyware accusations
The notification tool has been accused of spyware-like behavior, "phoning home" on a daily basis.[10][11] Microsoft subsequently admitted the behavior, but denied that it amounted to spyware.[12][13] Following pressure, Microsoft announced that in future the tool would only phone home once every two weeks, instead of every day.[14] Microsoft has also provided removal instructions for the pilot version of WGA.[15]

Despite this, Microsoft is currently being sued under anti-spyware statutes over WGA's non-disclosed "phone home" behavior.[16] The outcome of the lawsuit has not been determined."

Windows Live One Care is fine, but it is a lot more than an anti-virus program. It is a firewall, anti-spyware, anti-malware every type. I happen to truly believe the best program around is made by Panda. It IS super and I use it for every computer I own both at home and at my office. I also have installed it on my friends and family. Now one purchase can be used on three computers. Which makes it even better in my eyes.
