some mothers are just this way, not all by the way but some are. It is ther way of keeping control of their childrens lives. Maybe she is feeling left and neglected by your husband and is using guilt trips to keep herself in her sons life. You can try to talk to your husband or may be even your mother in law, probably won't do much good but it will get it off of your chest.

Did you not know this before you got married? I would have checked it out at least. Well I think she wants to feel like she is in control still. Some in laws are like that.

Wow, I'm in the same situation, except I do not talk with her at all when in the same room. Just keep a good distance from her at all times. Let her know you won't tolerate her phoniness.

i know how you feel, my hubby is the same way. sometimes i want to kick my mother in law(to put it nicely) he wont stand up to her. she is always putting a guilt trip on him. i say if our men wont stand up to her, we should just give her a piece of our minds. i think that would make me feel better anyways, i'm just waiting for the perfect moment to tell her to go to hell. good luck
