7 + n < + 8
7 + n - 7 < + 8 - 7
n < 1

subtract 7 from both sides, negatice 7 plus a postive 7 equals to zero, and 8 minus 7 is 1. therefore: n < 1
so n can equal anything that's zero and the negatives numbers
