Of course it is! You couldn't live without glucose, the simplest sugar. All the sugars are is combinations of them. Glucose, fructose, sucrose, galactose, maltose, lactose, they're all sugars, or combinations of sugars.

Your body breaks them all done with enzymes to "ATP", the basic energy "unit" of your body.

Short answer: Without sugar you'd die.

Sugar itself isn't healthy, especially added sugars and sweeteners. BUT natural sugars that occur in things like fruit, potatoes and tomatoes are okay because it comes along with nutrients. Added sugar is just empty calories. If you are going to add sugar to anything, add honey because there are a few nutrients in honey and it is also absorbed slower into the blood stream.

It depends entirely on how much you eat. You are not going to die, because you enjoy the occasional candy, or spoon of sugar in your tea (Unless, of course, you're a diabetic). Sugar's main problem is that it's high in calories, other than that, it's fat free, but with very little nutritional value.

You previous posters are really proving your intelligence by just responding with 'no you idiot'.

In a biological sense, sugar is nothing but a luxury. People surived for thousands of years without it (It was discovered towards the end of the Middle Ages in Europe) and European, Asian, or African body types have no idea what to do with it.

So probably not

Sugar is fine when it is consumed in moderation. Maybe a few teaspoons a day.
