Thank you in advanced!

WEAKNESS.. try evaluating yourself, see in which area you find yourself weak and because of knowing your weakness you are willing to improve it.

When I got interviewed for my first actual job in a hotel for the position of front office agent... the interviewer asked me about my weakest quality. I kept quiet for one or two seconds to evaluate myself and I saw my weakness in speaking in other languages like japanese, korean, and chinese(which was our main customers). When I told the interviewer that, I also added some details like I was willing to improve myself, I was willing to explore and learn more about those languages. And after a year of working in the hotel, I got to learn how to speak japanese and some basic chinese and korean words related to the hotel industry. =)

So, like what I said, EVALUATE yourself.. EVALUATE the position you are applying for and see what are your potential weakness in it. From there use it but use it in a POSITIVE way. If you do so it will kinda get you extra points to the employer/interviewer. =)

Relax, Look your best in the interview and sweep them of the floor... LoL

Girl, believe me, I know exactly how you feel. For the past week, I've been on a massive job hunt and finally got a phone call today. I'll have to go in for an interview soon, and I'm basically dreading it. So trust me, you are NOT alone in all the stress and anxiety of trying to get a job. I'm seriously one of the least outgoing and assertive folks out there, but I'm going to force myself to get through it.

Just try to be honest and genuine. That's all I can really say. I know it's not the most helpful advice. Because no matter what, you're probably gonna be nervous in any job interview. Just go in with the idea that they would be lucky to have you as an employee and try to display that to the interviewer. And for all the interviews that don't lead to a job opportunity, just look at it as getting more practice in the whole process. You'll better learn what to say and do.

I wish you luck. Just relax. You'll be fine. If you don't get the job one place, go to the next. I might have to follow my own advice if the first interview doesn't go so well. Somebody will hire you though, you hear me?!

LOL! Wow, that was not exactly the kind of answer they were looking for. I think they are talking more about weaknesses that would have an effect on the job.

One weakness I have used is that I didn't have many computer skills, but then I attended classes and now I feel really confident on them but I know I still have so much to learn. It doesn't really matter what kind of weakness, but rather choosing a weakness and showing how you overcame it.

For you, you might say that you get really nervous since you don't have much job history, but you volunteer a lot in order to improve your people skills and hope that to make some connections to find work (make sure you come up with a believable place that you volunteer).

You might look at the book "Knock 'em Dead". That has a lot of good little answers in them.

That one question is not why you are not getting selected. Your second sentence was very telling. "This was my first interview ever."

As you go on more and more interviews, like any skill, you will get better at it.

Here is my answer to the what is your weakness question.

"I get a little nervous in interviews, so sometimes, my true personality and enthusiasm doesn't come through".

If they say is that the only weakness you can think of. I say yes.

I have found that saying "I'm a perfectionist" is a good weakness answer. It could be looked at as a strength but it works for weakness. I have used it and I know others that use it also.
Be sure to ask them questions in return, they like that. It shows them that you are interested in their business. Do research on the company if you need to. Dress nice and make eye contact with them. After the interview mail or email them a thank you letter, immediately. If you interview with more than one, send it to all of them.
Good Luck!!

Weakness question:
1) Don't say that you don't have any weaknesses(obviously everyone has).
2) Say a weakness related to a work environment and tell how you are trying to overcome it and how you have improved on that.
Eg: "I used to try to complete lots of work(or studies) in one day. This created lot of pressure for me. So I later started creating an achievable goal for each day and it is working well. I don't feel overwhelmed any more".

Being Nervous:
You are not alone in this department. Everyone feels nervous when they attend an interview. You would not feel very nervous if you know the answer for every question.
So just prepare yourselves thoroughly on your subject. Also prepare for casual questions like "Tell me about yourselves" etc.,Write down the answers for all these casual questions and practice before a mirror. You will feel more confident this time.

Here are some links which detail about attending interviews:

Good luck.

Nobody who wants to impress the interviewer would seriously think about citing one's weakness in plain truth.

One can usually cite one small generic weakness which can also be seen as a strength to the interviewer.

For example, I can say my weakness is the need for details and thoroughness, which in certain job is seen as a strength.

All the best!

Try turning the "weakness" into a potential positive.
So one of your weaknesses could be that you tend to apply a lot of pressure to yourself and consequently your expectations tend to be too high. You're working on accepting that you can only ever perform at your best and not becoming overly stressed about things that you can't change and not becoming too competitive.

A good thing to say about weakness is something like, "I think my weakness is that I sometimes try too hard and I tend to put a lot of effort into things I do to make sure I do everything correctly."
Maybe not those exact words but something like that, make it a positive statement.
