This afternoon i went to walamrt and i am a teenager and the minute i walked in there i was apporached by a worker and told me i was trespassing and immeditaly needed to leave, i asked why and she said i am trespassing, ( i am guessing she has had bad experiences with teens) so the managar came oo and told me i needed to leave and i asked can you show me why i need to leave and she called the police so i jsut left cuase i did now want anymore hassle, Now my real quiestion is Are they legally allowed to do that? I literally only walked in, and i was told i was trespassing and need to leave and they were very rude in saying so as well, and keeep in mind i had done NOTIHNG at all, and had no bad intention to, So are they allowed to jsut kick me out of the store right when i walk in, like is that legally allowed? if someone could provide legal info that would e great, thanks in advance

I am a police officer and Wal-Mart usually does that to previous shoplifters. Did you do something in the past?

I worked store security. I agree with the above. We do this to previous shoplifters, or people that we see attempting to steal something, then ditch it later, or we lose sight of them and we are not sure if they ditched it. I think that they saw you attempting to steal something in the past and they just don't want you in the store. It is private property so they can ask anyone to leave. Also since you say that you are a "teen", I guess that you are under the age of 18. That being the case you have no right at all to be on their property without parental supervision.
Stop stealing stuff. This will get you into big trouble and probably lead to worse crimes. You have the power to change the corse of your life right now, do it, or the law will do it for you.

If they approached you as soon as you entered, that means they recognize you (or think they recognize you) from somewhere. You or someone that looks like you did something there in the past. Stores are private property and they can ban anyone they want. Unless they are discriminating on the basis of race, etc., they don't need a reason. Because they want your money, I promise they believe they have a good reason.

OBVIOUSLY you are not telling us the whole story here -- you must have done something to elicit that response.

And yes, they can deny entry to anyone that has previous problems with Wal-Mart or Shoplifting or any other problems too -- because the store is Private Property, and they can say who can and can not enter their store.

you were on PRIVATE PROPERTY. They can LEGALLY kick you out and ban you from entering. They do NOT need a reason --or at least they don't need to give YOU a reason.
If someone was on your property and you wanted them to leave you would not have to give them a reason just ask them to leave-if they fail to comply with your request to leave they are trespassing and can be prosecuted according to the laws of your state/city.

yes walmart does have the same rights as you do , in telling some one they don;t want you on their premises, so you probable looked like some one they had problems with before or you were slinking along trying to be cool and they thought you would be stealing from them, if you owned the store what would you do?

YEP they can for absolutely nothing. Now, if they said they were kicking you out because you had purple hair and a pierced eyeball and nose, you could have a discrimination suit.

technically you can be kicked out legally. However, If i were you i would write a very nasty letter to the manager of walmart, and say something about encouraging people to go to target...
