Claim that the tax they pay "which is an average of 22%" is paying for peoples state benefits, when state benefits are actually taxed 22% before the recipient recieves it. I am employed myself & am puzzled by this, also by the fact that I don't pay tax, tax is taken from me.

The answer is simple - In the mid to late eighties there were so many unemployed that the government faced a massive increase in the amount being paid out in benefits. Instead of reducing the benefits (which would have been illegal) they simply added them into the taxation system, thus reducing the total benefits bill by an enormous 25% (as this was the base rate at the time) - but they didn't actually reduce the bill, the money saved went towards even more unemployment benefit for the ever increasing numbers of unemployed people.
Clever huh?

I think some of this has something to do with some recent hype in the media. To an extent, they do have point,.

I, and surely many others, would be happy to see their money used to halp those who've found themselves out of work and need money to support themselves while they find work, or those who are disabled and genuinely unable to work. However, those benefits have been abused by the 'spongers', which is where the media comes ina nd starts giving us the headlines.

By 'sponger' I mean those who'll pretend to be after work, or pretend to have a disability, merely as a means of getting payed for being lazy ****s.

of course it does are u serious? if i take a £1 tax off ten people, then give u a tenner minus £2.50. What have u paid 4 with the £2.50 that wasn't effin urs anyway?ur own benefits?
check this out i'm self employed and the goverment pays ME tax! get ur head round that one!£190 a month. nicely. Im sure the wealth i generate from producing and spending compensates 4 that.
e.g.
wat if we all spend half of wat we earn.
I earn a tenner and spend a fiver in a shop.
shopkeeper earns a fiver spends £2.50 in pub
landlord earns £2.50 spends £1.25 on drugs
total earnt is£18.75 total saved £8.75
all from my tenner! FACT

there is truth in the matter. that many other people, who happen to be our own brothers and sisters, take advantage of the procedure does not change the fact that at the end of the day some money goes to state benefits

Part of the hard earned money of workers goes to those who arent working. There are SOME who deserve a boost but far too many take advantage. I say we pick a certain number of things we'd prefer our money to go to and thats where it goes.
