I've got a martini shaker, seen here:

The lid will. not. budge.

I've tried freezing, boiling water, and looking like an idiot while having a hernia trying to remove it.

The problem with the freezing and boiling water is that you are acclimating all of the metal at the same time. Try placing the shaker in the freezer for a few hours, and then take it out and stick just the top in boiling water, give it a second or two, and try to pull it off with a towel. The cold metal will stay constricted, while the cap expands quickly. Good Luck!

With repest, I am shy of opening files under these circumstances, so I have not seen the image. I suggest that you take your shaker to a restaurant supply and get a demo of which the pros use and how they use them. If you decide that your shaker set is worthy, perhaps the store clerk can assist in the disengagement. Otherwise treat yourself to a new rig.

Hold with one hand and tap near the top rim with base of your palm of the other hand in order to unjar it. You may need to try a few times, hope it works for ya.
