Everyone can dance. There is not right or wrong way to do it. I remember entering a twisting contestes in high school and being so embarrased because my partner was doing these wild crazy moves. I was like, "why did I get stuck with this lunatic"....but you know what? we won the contest. Moral of the story...what one person may think looks stupid or silly, may be just the thing the judges find brave, new, and exciting....
...so go for it...have fun...

I was in a dance group where the dancers made up the choreography from standard combinations. The steps were:
1. make a list of all the solos the dancers can do. If you don't have enough, look at videos for inspiration. One of our figures was adapted from Riverdance.
2. find music with variable tempo to match the solos and provide transitions
3. invent the chore work and transitions. Simple steps done well look better than complex steps done poorly so follow the KISS principle. Remember that you are painting a pattern for the audience, so consider where the audience will be seated. Some of the transitions that we use are funnels, circles, and lines that criss cross. A circle is good to mask a solo being set up, which is revealed when the circle opens up. Funnels create motion and let everyone get to the right part of the stage for the next figure. Crosses give the illusion that the dancers are going to collide.

Good luck and have fun.
