I'm auditioning for the musical "oliver". What song should I audition with? I'm an alto and I can belt. Our audition song has to be from the show. I'm not looking for a huge part, I just don't want to be in the ensemble.

"Where is Love" is a beautiful sweet song. "Consider Yourself" is catchy and bright. So I guess it depends on your personality and style.

Are you SURE they want you to sing a song from the show - Directors usually dislike that for auditions; I'd pick a song that showcases your talents from some other production, something you are good with and have practiced. If you do well at your initial audition, they may pick a song from the show that they will want to hear you do for call-backs, but it's "trying too hard" and focusing on the wrong things to pick those as your audition.

My recommendation is to sing FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD, and other good choices being: CONSIDER YOURSELF, and AS LONG AS HE NEEDS ME.

Food Glorious Food (hot sausage and mustard) is a good song to sing specifically for an alto because it doesn't have very high notes; and it has a lot of spirit. You said that you can belt, and that song will give you an opportunity to let the world know who you are and what you can do. It will give you an opportunity to show your personality.

Boy for Sale is too sad for you to sing if you' can belt, so nix that. That's your Funeral doesn't have such an interesting melody. CONSIDER YOURSELF would be my second or other choice, but I don't think it gives you as much room to really show off your talent. WHERE IS LOVE is a beautiful song, but it goes high and I'm not sure it's a good range for you; and it's not a song for "belting it out". Omm Pah Pah doesn't work as an audition song, it's silly. Another Good Choice is: AS LONG AS HE NEEDS ME. Who Will Buy is another too sad and melancholic for a belter. I'LL DO ANYTHING could work, but I don't think that it gives you the chance to show your personality like CONSIDER YOURSELF or FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD. It depends on the mood you want to convey. But there are 3 good ones above to consider.
