I used bobbypins and cardboard covered with fabric once. Cut out the shape of the ears with small tabs at the bottom. Cover the shapes with fabric of your choice, an old black shirt or sweater works well. Wrap the tabs around the top side of the bobbypin and either glue or staple in place. When ready to wear the ears, fix your hair how you like it and pin the "ears" into your hair. If you arrange them just right they look really good :)

I'm not sure this is any help, but you can use cloth (if you know how to sew) and make it in the shape of two cones, then stuff them with cotton and attach them to some sort of hair band. (or just go out to the store and buy a set)

How about using a cat?
All you need is:
A dropcloth, a bucket to catch the excess liquids, a cat, some ether, and an xacto knife should do the trick. Why stop with the ears...you'll have enough left over for a wallet too.

Man, that was sick, even for me. "Lord I do apologise..."

I'm flashing back to a scene with Bill Murray in Scrooged when the stage hands are trying to get antlers to stay on a mouse, and Bill asks..."Have you tried staples?"
