I read somewhere once that it's because most people go to the kitchen or bathroom during commercials and they want you to be able to hear them. That would make sense, but I always wind up turning them down.

Aside from getting your attention, sponsors realized in the early 80's people would get up and go to the kitchen or restroom during the commercial break. So the volume was also increased to catch the ears of people no longer in front of the television.

confident!!!! I figured this out years in the past. motives why the categorized classified ads are louder are using fact maximum human beings walk out of the room to get a drink/snack. The entrepreneurs want you to have the skill to take heed to their commercial from the different room. i offered a television from Wal-Mart. this is a Magnavox clever television. whilst the "clever" sound is on, it keeps the quantity at one point. i've got not got a difficulty with turning the quantity up and down between categorized classified ads anymore.

It's to get your attention good or bad. Most companies who buy commercial time want the volume louder than normal to get you to pay attention to what's being shown. Even if it annoys you, you will remember seeing the commercial and the hope is it will influence you to buy that product. I personally just makes notes of the most annoying commercials and refuse to buy those products. But that's just me.

the sponsors that create these commericals insist on the volume to be turned up for getting the attention of the tv viewers, even though there is a law against it. one can call the tv station and complain and nothing is done about it the greatest power in this world is green power and so us little people have no say////

Commercials are louder so you'll know when you're show's back on. They know you're off doing ANYthing but watching that commercial.

they do that to get your attention. not helping since you always have to lower the volume down and you have to walk when the remote is far away from you.
