All day long I been hearing that America is bad because it will not talk to N.Korea but what about S.Korea, China and even Japan. They are closer and they should be more worried and willing to talk to N.Korea into not useing Nukes.

I don't, when the US was trying to get support for the fight against terrorism no one wanted to help. We were forced to basically { exception being Great Brittan, Italy and a few other small countries on of which was Spain who then pulled after they were attacked } go it alone. The world condemned us for doing and we became hated world wide for protecting ourselves. although we had been attacked several times in the prior 20 years.

No the same people are telling us to do something all by ourselves. That approach stinks, if we did negotiate something by ourselves we would be accused of not taking others into consideration. Again we would be the bad guys.

China, North Korea, South Korea and Taiwan all have more to fear than we do. We should arm the last 3 with Missile Defense Systems and give them the Bomb so they can defend themselves properly.

I like you question it was very well thought out.

Its is not the US's job to talk N. Korea out of anything. They would not listen to the US if we tried. That is why we are involved in the 6 way talks with them. My true concern is that China used to have some "influence" over what happened in N. Korea and they seem to have lost that. I am not sure that N. Korea will listen to anyone. The United Nations is a joke and the world powers know it. The security council can make all the resolutions that they want, they do not have the power to back any of them up. That's where the US comes back into the picture.

You are so right. We tried talking to them and gave away 'the farm' during the Clinton administration if they would not build nukes. We kept our word but Polywog did not. This is evidence enough that talking to them is futile.

That punk leader has a real ego problem and for his own satisfaction wants to bring the USA to it's knees.

Once again the U.N. would like to hold us responsible for everything, do nothing themselves and then criticize, fail to back us up, and call us murderers if we take any action.

Worse yet is the liberals that want us to take N.Korea on on our own and then they can continue to tear us down.

It's a lose, lose situation and I thank God that President Bush does not govern by polls.

How old are you? Did you know North Korea has rockets that will reach Israel? When most Democrats say "talk directly" what we mean is offer them a bribe, like food for the starving people. Oil from Iraq cheap and even nukes to make power. Bush should not invade them as he invaded Iraq without the UN. That would be a very big and costly mistake for Israel. That mistake could also take out South Korea or all of Japan for 1000 years. Bush thinks the election and the war in Iraq (his war on terror) is more important now. He needs to stay on message " you are safer under Republicans in Congress".

We are perfectly willing to talk with N Korea, just not in unlateral discussion. If we, the worlds biggest superpower give them the 1 on 1 attention they are asking for, they will then feel like they are in a position to negotiate with us over any matter using their claimed nuclear capability as leverage. The real threat with N Korea being nuclear capable isn't that they may use them, but that they are a proliferator of arms to many rogue nations and idealist groups, all of which are our enemies. SCARY

IMHO. I believe it is beyond the point of trying to talk to North Korea. They have the weapons. They are refining them. China has tried to talk to them. They do not want a lot of refugees to come to their shores, so their hands are basically tied. We should all be worried about them using Nukes. In reality, N. Korea, is going to sell this asset to the highest bidder. When they do that, all bets will be off. No one will be a safe distance from attack, fallout.

Has anyone ever thought that N.Korea might have seen the way that america is pushing israel towards a `pre-emptive (huh..stupid phrase) strike` against Iran and decided that if they make a big hole in the ground in their own country the big boys might leave them alone ?

I have absolutely no reason to support N.Korea by the way, but it does seem logical to me that this might be the way that they see it.

Its not the USA's job to talk everyone out of everything. You are right, the countries in the region need to step up to the plate. If there is a war, S. Korea could handle the North, and it would be nice to see the North liberated by fellow Koreans

Weve talked for over 50 years, I don't feel were responsible to say one word more. North Korea destined to eventualy be on the trash heap of failed government systems (Communism) I think its just a matter of time before they implode. But we could sure help em along with some sanctions, boycotts and a good naval blockade :)
