Defects are just that; people are born with them - example - polydactyly which is having more than 5 fingers or toes
Disease is a diease that can be passed down genetically like TaySacs, may not be apparant at time of birth

Both are linked to a specific gene

genetic diseases: these are passed down through your genetic line, such as high blood sugar/pressure, proneness to strokes and heart disease, albinism (passed down from mother to son) and dwarfism (sometimes).

genetic defects: a mistake during the seperation of the helixes once an egg is fertilized...such as missing or added limbs, mental disabilities caused by too much or too little of a certain trait, or an emphasis on the x or y chromasome, which can lead to overmasculinity for men, which makes them..more masculine, or the exact opposite. or for women, overfeminimity (sp?) which gives them enhanced features. (btw, those arent the real terms...overmasculinity and feminimity. i just made up the term, but it really exists!)
