Look at it as though it is a regular equation, (as if there are equal signs instead of less than or greater than signs if you need to). Your goal is to isolate the variable. What you do to one side, you must also do to the other side. So in your example you will divide both sides by negative 2. Then your variable is isolated. And don't forget to switch the inequality signs if you divide by a negative.

Another example: 4 < x-3 < 7
Add 3 to each side

-2m is between 6 and 10

so -m is between 3 and 5

so m is between -3 and -5

so -3>m>-5

and -6>2m>-10
