With the engine running pull transmission dip stick out to clean it. Put it in once again and remove it to look at the level.

there is a plug with an allen socket on the trans pan. engine cold, pull the plug and see if any runs out; add until it does. reinstall plug, start engine. run for about 5 minutes with front wheels off the ground in drive. pull plug again; add fluid until runs out. this really should be done by the proper person using proper equipment. the trans fluid has to be checked at a certain temperature, hence the suggestion for a properly trained person with the proper tools to do this., if you insist on doing this yourself, the car must be nearly level to get an accurate reading. a vehicle hoist is almost a necessity. use all common sense safety rules.
