state an interesting fact or statistic about them. for example you could say something like, "37% of all girls under 18 do not use some form of birth control". That was totally random but if you could find a true statistic about it that would make a good way to start your intro paragraph

I think that it would be very catching and intriguing if you started out your topic by using "snap, crackle, and pop". Then start describing what rice krispies are and the history, then at the end describe how to make them. Pretty simple, I think that it would get you farther, if this is for a grade.

As for your other part of the question, I am on birth control. I am also 17. When I was 16 my mom put me on it just because she wanted me to be safe. I think that birth control could definetly help out teens and young adults to have safer sex. Being a teenager myself and having been put into situations that werent favorable, I think that this is a major issue in our country. But Im not going to get into politics or anything, I just wanted to tell you that your topic of birth control for teens being a requirement instead of a choice is a very interesting and intriguing concept!

xx

For the Rice Krispy Treats topic, start by relating to the reader. Describe the treats and the events where we eat them as we are growing up. Then move into the history of the treats and, finally, how to bake them.

For the other topic, begin by describing a scene, situation, or event related to your thesis. Demonstrate your point for the reader by "showing" instead of just telling. Then move into your intro and thesis.

Start the rice krispy one off with a description of the treat and describe the texture and taste and stuff. This will make the reader hungry and interested.

Start birth contrl one off with a statistic about teen pregnancy.

Please tell me that the Rice Krispy treats speech is different from the birth control speech.

You really need to separate those two questions into two separate Yahoo topics, or you may get some really nonsensical replies.

I would use the phrase. ooey gooey in your speech about the Rice Krispy treats... yummy for my tummy!
