Is it right?....NO!
Should you do it....NEVER!!
There are things you can take to basically render you "out of it" and stay painfree...like morphine and stuff. When the body tires and absolutely cannot go on then you die....but never at the hands of someone, even if the sufferer begs you, it's a SIN and it's a CRIME!! The only love you can show them is BE physically there...no-one wants to die feeling lonely, your presence alone should translate to being loving and caring!!

Legally and Morally the answer is No. Even if the person is suffering you can still go to jail for taking their life. Taking ones life is not the same as helping someone take their own. Euthanasia is an age old question that will never have the right answer. Just remember, even Dr. Kevorkian is in jail for helping people end their suffering. If your friend is dying in a couple days I suggest finding some really strong pain medication and hope for the best. Assure him that he does not have to suffer much longer and that he should take this opportunity to say his goodbyes.

From an objective viewpoint, I think it's wrong. Ending a person's life is still murder in my mind, even if you're doing it for a "good reason", and that would be one of the best reasons I could think of.
That said, if it were my friend, my sister, parents, husband, or children, I don't know what I would do. I feel certain I wouldn't try to keep them alive with them on a respirator or anything like that if there's no chance they would be able to continue to live life the way they want.
But I couldn't tell you definitively if I would actually kill them to spare them the pain I know they're in. There's also some grey areas in this situation. I wouldn't keep them on life support if they would never be able to return to life the way they would want it. I don't think I could, like, give them a lethal dose of morphine or anything like that. I think I could accept their decision to deny themselves treatment (I had an aunt who passed away from breast cancer this year, and once she had enough, she said she wanted no more chemo treatments, and the family had to accept that, knowing she was almost certainly choosing death). I would do whatever I could to alleviate any pain they may have, through the use of powerful painkillers, but no, I don't think I could live with myself if I purposely killed them, even for that reason.
That answer, of course, is made while I'm sitting here in my living room with my healthy family, not having to make those decisions. All that could be null and void if I had to make those decisions for real.

If you really think it would help him I see no problem, turn the question around and ask... If I were in great pain and I asked my best pal to help me end it, I would expect him to do what I asked. If your friend asks you to help him stop the pain, go ahead and damn the consequences.
Twice I have been asked for permission to stop giving medication keeping someone alive, where is the difference? On each occasion I said yes... I only caused things to happen a little sooner........ I only hope someone can help me if I am ever in such a position.

Well, this is smack dab in the "right to life" debate. However, from a legal standpoint, its still murder. Just ask Dr. Kevorkian. Now, from a personal standpoint. I feel that a person should be able to say when they want their life to end, especially when suffering from a terminal disease. Therefore, I think you would be doing your friend a great service by ending his suffering.
Sorry, I understood your hypothetical....My response is meant to be the same.

Thou shall not murder.
No ..I would not take his life. You would have to live with those consequences.
Pain medicine is a great help these days if able to take any.
How could a friend ask you to do something like that anyway? He should know you would pay consequences with your life perhaps........would that be fair? Be better if he waited out those next few days.......

No, I could not live with this on my conscience. I would hate to see the suffering. I think I would try to talk him through it by talking about happier times, good memories.

You have no authority to take anyone's life for any reason. If you do, you would be committing a crime.

I am doing this in my gifted class questions like these you have to think about it. Would he be in equal pain if he did it? I'm NOT CONDONING DOING THIS! IF YOU ARE THINKING OF DOING THIS DONT!
