First, they are stickers, and the design is not a star, it is a buckeye leaf. The Buckeye Tree is the state tree of Ohio.
Second, they are awarded one every time they have a good play. If the player has been struggling running a certain play in practice, but runs it successfully during a game, they are awarded a sticker. If they lay on a big hit, they get a sticker. If they get an interception, the probably get a few stickers, etc., etc.

they r known as pride stickers and they r to show how good one another is like a sack or a good hit or a great play or a touch down the next week in practice u wuld recive a pride sticker for each great play u have
