i liked him off the track, he appeared to be a good man. however on the track. he was good, but he was also spoiled and got away with things the other drivers couldnt..i do think that he was intimidating for sure (on the track) it was a very sad day when he died.

I didn't begin watching Nascar until 2004. And while I am not a Dale Sr fan I do respect everything that he accomplished. A lot of people did not believe that he would make it as far as he did and he accomplished more than some people do in their entire lifetime!!

Whether or not some want to admit it...Dale Sr made Nascar what it is today. He showed people that hard work does pay off. No matter how hard they try...THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER DALE EARNHARDT SR...EVER!

I am not a fan of Dale Sr but I do respect the man. He gave and still is giving Nascar a lot!

Dale senior was the greatest in reading the wind and using it to win.No other driver can do that today and when they try they crash and there are hard feelings(see Talladega 10/8)
The lose of Earnhardt changed the face of racing, there is no on track leader,he was the leader.

Honestly, I'll probably never forget that day in Daytona, it nearly brought a tear to my eye. He was the greatest driver ever, hands down. I seriously didnt watch nascar for a couple years after that because he was the only reason I watched. You never knew what was gonna happen. If he was in second on the last lap you knew he would find a way to win. The Intimidator, nothing else could have described him better.

Best driver ever. I adore Jr. but it just isn't the same. I haven't watched a full race since that Daytona 500. When I went to work the next day I was still bumbed. They asked me what was wrong and I cried like a little baby telling them about it. He came into my home almost every Sunday for most of my life so it was like losing a family member. I figured if I could get that upset about someone I had never met it was time to give up the hobby. (I'm getting teary eyed now, lol.)

He and Tim Richmond were what got me into stock cars. I have never seen a person do things with a car like he did. He could take an ill handling car and make it competitive, just by shear determination. He was racing to me and it's just not the same without him.

Yes. He is the best NASCAR driver ever. I still miss him greatly, it just isn't the same without him. He was a great driver driver, but also a great guy off the track.

RIP DALE!!

Oh yeah, I was a Big E fan. He is definatly missed. I really think he would've contended for his 8th title had he not been killed in 2001. The sport really has changed alot since then.
