OK one or two possible things may be happening:

1. You may have the wrong DVD in the burner. Check to see that you didn't put a DVD+R in the hopper. If so, go buy DVD-R (I've actually done this myself, the dudes at KMART didn't know there was a difference, but I digress.)

2. You need a special DVD burning program--Windows won't cut it because it can't translate from the digital format the movie was in when you downloaded it to a format that can be read by a TV-based DVD player and/or a computer DVD player. There may also be copyright issues and copyright encryption software depending on where you downloaded the movie--and if you did it legally.

I had this happen too. You can get a lot of free trials online for software like this to test it out before buying.

Even if you did pirate it, there is software on the Net that will help you burn. (Disclaimer: To the INTERPOL and FBI--I am in no way advocating any kind of copyright violation or illegal downloading.)

I like Roxio for burning DVDs, CDs, etc. Also for legal movie downloads try www.divxmovies.com.
