Specifically though, punk is more of a brash quick full of energy style. Very aggressive and angry for the most part. (Or at least REAL punk) Ex. The Sex Pistols

New wave is more groovy, uses a lot of keyboards and can be a bit cheesy. Ex. A Flock of Seagulls

Heavy metal has low pitched usually incredibly fast guitar licks and a lot agressiveness to it. But unlike punk, these guys tend to go on for a longer period of time and know how to play their instruments. (It's not a slam, punks in the '70's really didn't know how to play whatsoever.) Ex. Guns N Roses

punk music is alternative music, it doennt have any screamo. its loud! it uses the instruments Vocals - Guitar - Bass - Drums.
dont know about new wave. new wave uses the insruments: Synthesizer - Guitar - Drums - Keyboards - Bass

heavy metal has sreamo in it. its super loud! it uses the instruments such as Guitar - Bass - Drums.

Punk ain't necessarily metal. New wave..i don't know hmm i must be gettin' old.

Also, they've got different names.
