How do I take videos off the net and make gif's from them?

I have a gif creator but don't know how to bring up videos. When I open a video only a thumbnail comes up. Am I saving it wrong. I want to make gif's for my myspace friends and things like that.

When you are viewing the video, hit ALT+PrintScrn

Then open up a graphic editing program and hit paste (or CTRL+V)

You ought to be able to cut the image out of the copied screen shot.
