If the USA was nuked there wouldn't be a Democrat in office. We haven't had the DEF CON above 3 in a Democratic Presidency since JFK was in office.

Well, this is the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. I'm so sick and tired of people like you who use Yahoo! Answers as a forum for your over-simplified generalizations. You're ignorant and misguided questions are completely pointless.

look at the history of democrats: in WWII FDR acted, Truman dropped the bomb, JFK had the Cuban missile crises where the Russians backed down. Not once did they use the lie Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Let's see. . .FDR & Truman were around for the Manhattan Project & Hiroshima. . .Kennedy showed strong leadership during the Cuban Missile Crisis. I think we'd be in much better shape with a Democrat in position if the "unthinkable" scenario that you present were to happen.
