Well, eventually he'll become accustomed to some US things. However, what do you mean by AMERICAN? He'll always be mexican and will probably always have an accent but will learn more of the english language soon, I am sure.
And, if the two of you have about nothing in common, how'd you two get together and why are you still dating him?

If you admit that you guys have very little in common and if you're hoping he'll change then maybe you shouldn't be together....I mean, what? Is the fact that he's Mexican a problem for you??....figure out what you want from this....

are you ashamed of his ethnicity? Why do you want him to become more "American"? What exactly do you wish him to change? Does he know about this?

Talk to him, I mean if you wish he change his fashion style or his haircut let him know, but remember, you fell in love with a Mexican and with that comes a different race and nationality. A different culture. Accept and embrace the difference, the same way I hope he accepts and embraces yours. Do not try to change each other. Like in every other relationship, you do not go into a relationship trying to change each other. it wont work.

Opposites attract...I have been in a 6 year relationship and we have 2 kids together but we are soooo different, he likes certain things that I dont like, I like certain things that he does not like...We share the same music taste and food but thats about it. But we have come together and pulled through the opposites. Sometimes if u are too much alike then there is no where to go in your relationship, its not fun that way. Plus my boyfriend is hatian and I wouldnt change him for the world *p.s im sure ur man is sexy too, cause I know mine is hella sexy.. yum!

The reason for dating someone from another culture is to learn about them, and in the process where they come from. You won't change him into something else, but as he gets to know you he'll learn about what you like and your values, as you learn about him.

If you aren't trying to do that, you need to change your relationship.

Why do you want to make him more American for? If you don't like the way he is now and are trying to change him then your not meant to be together.

"little in common" thing doesnt work always, my wife german and i'm american and we are married for 2 years now. i think its more fun when you have two different cultures together. you have something to talk about. if you really love him and he loves you, thats most important thing.
