Listen, there is NO reason to do such a drastic step as to wipe your hard drive clean and re-install your Windows XP Operating System! You are having a problem with spyware, unwanted advertisements including popups, porn, and may have a virus on your system and perhaps a keylogger or tojan. While these are issues which can cause major headaches they are NOT reason to do what you say you want to do here. K?

I strongly reccomend you purchase a good solid Internet Security Suite. I have been using Panda for years now use nothing but the Panda Internet Security Suite with the firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-trojan, anti-keylogger, etc, this is a full service program and is not a light weight. It is used by corperations and I CAN'T stress how good it is! I would not run a system without this installed. I do not need any other additional program, just Panda. It intergrates into my Outlook and Outlook express, all my Instant Messenger programs and has a hueristic scan which finds and quaranteens any suspected virus or malware BEFORE a virus signiture is out for it. Which means it captures and rids my system of viruses and other malware before anyone even knows it exists yet. I have had several unknown threats caught by Panda, which would have toasted my system otherwise. Panda also updates its signiture files DAILY, not weekly or monthly like most (namly Norton-Monthly).

Go to http://www.microsoft.com for a free services by Microsoft. There are three tools, two totally free, one has a ninty day trial which should do good until you decide whether or not to get Panda. The first is a Malicious Software Removal Tool, the second is Windows Defender, the third is the Windows One care Internet Security Suite. Use the first two first, then download and use the third. Then if you have something which needs removal follow Microsofts advice. It is important for you to know your System Restore needs to be disabled while you clean your system. This is due to the fact System Restore records a copy of your hard drive at certain moments in time in order to facilitate backing up the system to a past point in time when the system was running well. This is a great and vital tool for the windows os, but the very fact it copies your hard drive means it copies any viruses and/or other malware along with the good stuff. So, when you clean out your system and think you have rid yourself of all the gunk, System Restore inadvertently will keep the gunk on your system in one or more of its Restore Points. So, disable System Resore by:

Click on Start-Point to My Computer and Right Click, then select Properties out of the shortcut menu. This brings up System Properties. Click on System Restore Tab and then check the box Disable System Restore.

This clears all Restore Points from your system. As soon as your re-enable it a new Restore Point will be set and it will continue to function normally there after and you will not have to worry a virus or other bad thing is hiding in this program.

If you do these things you should not have to do the drastic step you want to do. If you choose to check out Panda, read up on it at this URL: http://www.pandasoftware.com

You will find all the information needed to make a good decision. If you have a Fry's Electronic store close by you can get Panda there at a reduced price right now for up to three systems or seperate computers. Up to now we could only use each program on one computer so this is exciting for me. You won't be able to get it for free less taxes, as I can as I am upgrading, but you can still get it for a super low price of thirty dollars for three computers so ten dollars a c omputer, for a year of signitures, which is just an unbelievable deal.

Good luck and I hope you do not wipe your disk before trying to fix this. It IS fixable it just takes the right tools. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise as some find wiping it clean easy, so lazy techs do this, but it is easy for them as they are knowlegable and very experianced with computers and programming and such.

Before you disable system restore,
