but i don't feel the same way. i only see him as a friend but nothing else. he tells me he wants to marry me but i don't want that. we get along a lot. we do things together. but i am not in love with him. i'm moving away pretty soon. he had told me twice that he'll wait for me when i return. he had been dumped and hurted a lot. how do i tell him that i don't love him the way he loves me without hurting his feelings?

just tell him i mean he cant expect you to be with someone you dont truly love if he gets sad reassure him that it shouldnt change your friendship

well not matter how you tell him, he'll get hurt. But tell him how much you value his friendship and opinions and how you love spending time with him. Say you hope that you can stay friends and you're sorry you don't feel the same way.

man i had this problem, and the worst part is that i told the guy any girl would be lucky to have him because he was such a great guy to make him feel better about being dumped and turned down, then when he liked me i didn't want to tell him i didn't like him like that because it would be weird. just tell him the right girl is out there for him, but its not you.

You cant. Being rejected by someone you love is the most painful thing in the world.

no matter what you tell him it would hurt his feelins. but you have to tell him the truth. it will hurt his feelings anyways. let him know the truth. don't hurt him. he might find someone else too when you move away. but tell him that you will always be his friends.

be honest with him- tell him you cherrish your friendship with him but dont desire any relationship with him.
